ATP Z-493 Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Dodge Caravan Chrysler Voyager

ATP Z-493 is an automatic transmission flexplate designed for select Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Voyager applications. Mounted between the engine crankshaft and automatic transmission torque converter, the flexplate transfers engine rotation to the transmission while providing the mounting surface for the torque converter.

Unlike a traditional manual-transmission flywheel, an automatic-transmission flexplate is a relatively thin steel drive plate engineered to handle rotational loads while allowing the small amount of controlled flex required between the engine and torque converter. The outer ring gear also provides the engagement surface used by the starter motor to crank the engine.

Signs of a Damaged Flexplate
